Did you know I make videos?
I love filming my research and writing process. In my books, I try to explain what my home country, Finland, looks like as best I can, but in these videos you can get an even better glimpse of what it's really like. These would be great for classroom use, too! Each video offers a wealth of information about the book and its setting.
Like Lumi, I hiked through the snowy Urho Kekkonen National Park and tried a sauna and ice-swimming.
Despite the -26°C, Mum and I go skiing and encounter a Siberian Jay that eats from my hand, and share a trail with wild reindeer.
This is Finland in summer! I wrote a big part of “Lumi and the Wolf” at my dad’s cottage by a lake.
This is where Lumi’s aunt and uncle live and the trails she and Wolf walk (only in winter)!
My mum and I travelled to Lapland to learn as much as possible about wolves and other wild animals.
I visited a Sámi museum to find out more about Oskár’s heritage. Then Mum and I climbed a fell!
Oskár lives on a Sámi reindeer farm, so of course I had to visit one too. I learnt so many fun facts!
