It’s finally time to reveal my big secret! My debut middle-grade novel will be published by Hachette Children’s Group this September. Set in the frozen wilderness of Lapland, Lumi and the Wolf is an adventure story about an autistic girl who feels like she doesn’t belong. But when she sets out on an epic adventure to save a wild wolf, she finds her place in the world. It will be released as a beautiful hardback with illustrations by the award-winning Jason Cockroft.

I’m Lottie

Lovely to meet you!

Hi, my name is Lottie (born Lotta-Sofia) Saahko, I’m the author of eleven books in Finnish, and my English debut is coming this autumn! That means I write books in two languages – and I speak five. That’s because I was born in Finland but raised in various countries around the world. Now I live in London.

Additionally to writing and reading, I take aerial hoop classes, and when I’m in Finland, I enjoy ice swimming, cross-country skiing and spending time with my grandfather. He is 90 years old!

I also love creating content for Instagram and YouTube. Make sure to follow me for lots of writing and reading updates!

I’d love to work with you!

I am great with children of all ages. I’ve been doing school and library visits in Finland for over five years and can’t wait to talk to children all around the UK next. I offer:

Traditional author talks, where I introduce my story, how I moved from country to country, how I started writing, and how I wrote this book.
Writing workshops where I teach story structure before we workshop a story together.
Forest Diary Workshops, where we go into the woods or park like Lumi and keep our own forest diary.
